Ern signed as a witness to the marriage of his father and Ada May FEAR in 1921. He lived at 84 Gardner Street Richmond at the time of his marriage in 1929, at 5 Namur Street East Kew in 1937 and at 1C Molesworth Street Kew in 1978.
He was executor of his father's Will, in which he was left the properties at 406, 408 and 410 Bridge Road Richmond.
He worked in his father's grocery store in Richmond from the age of 15 years. He was one of the first Victorian retailers to introduce self-service shopping. He built up the business into five stores in the Richmond-Collingwood area. After he retired he still helped out his son in his supermarket "Haggers" in Doncaster Road North Balwyn. He actually had a heart attack on his way home from there one day. He died a few days later in hospital.
Eileen lived on French Island when she was young and rode a pony to school. Her nickname was "Fluff", and she thought she was the prettiest one of the daughters! She lived at 70 Albion St West Brunswick at time of marriage in 1929, and at 42-60 Capital Avenue Glen Waverley in 1990
