Note on Husband: Oscar Gilbert BERGSTROM - shared note
He lived at 140 The Avenue Coburg. On 18th January 1967 Oscar was riding his bicycle along Bell Street Coburg, at about 5.30pm when he was struck from behind by a motor car. He was taken to hospital, but died there are about 6.00pm. The driver of the car was questioned and he said that Oscar had put out his hand and went straight in front of him. He said that he hit the brakes, though there were no skid marks and he was supposedly only going about 20 miles an hour. The weather was ideal for driving and the road was in good condition. A sobriety test was done on the driver and his blood alcohol level was over .05. He was charged with driving a motor car under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drug to such on extent as to be incapable of having proper control of that motor car. Also he was charged with dangerous driving and being over .05. His last comment when asked out the accident was "why to they bloody well use push bikes." Oscar made his will on 2nd August 1939. He named his wife, Margaret Eunice BERGSTROM as the sole Executrix, and left her his entire Estate valued at $9,000, which was their home and property at 140 The Avenue East Coburg.
