David Bell was baptised at the Free Martyr's Church in Edinburgh in February 1831.
 Like so many of his family before him, he was a member of the printing profession.
 He was an Electrotyper and Stereographer and employed several workers.
On 1 December 1854 he married Janet Bell Thomson at St Cuthberts in Edinburgh.
Janet was baptised in Lauder, Berwick on 24 September 1829 to James and Margaret Thomson.


David Melville Fleming followed his father into the printing profession and became an Electrotyper and Stereographer.
