Hi Glynn, You have no info on George's wife? Johanna Fredrika Caroline Godier, daughter of Wynand Godier and Rebekka Pruysser. On 8 Aug 1833 there was a court case - he was accused of raping Johanna Godier and forced to marry her, which he did on 9 Sep 1833. They had one son, William. I think I have copies of the court case documents somewhere. Perhaps he didn't rape her as such, but merely seduced her & then refused to marry her, so her mother Rebecca sued him. Not grounds for a happy marriage at all. If you have any info about Johanna I would be interested to know it. Her sister, Martha Godier, was my 3rd great grandmother. Rebekka Pruyser was the daughter of Carl Pruysser (a gardener from Germany) & Eva van die Kaap, a Khoi woman. Rebekka was born in 1784 in Cape Town. That's as much as I know about her. In fact I don't know much about the Godier family at all. Cheers, Nicky
