His will was proved in the PCC in 1835. It mentions his father Thomas (PCC 1820), a former linen draper in London, and his father’s cousin, John Roe of Bakewell, who made a will dated 1806: it must have been proved at Lichfield. John left a lot of property to Thomas Roe including property in Parwich.
Richard’s will also mentions his half-brothers Thomas Jr and Francis. Thomas Jr married a Maria. He was a lawyer of Temple Buildings, London. His PCC will, proved in 1854, mentions some property he had bought in Bakewell.
Francis married a lady named Harriet and lived in St George’s Square, Hyde Park: they baptised a daughter named Fanny at St Martins in the Fields in 1818.
I believe Richard, who mentions an uncle named Richard in his will, was baptised at St Martins in 1776, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth.
Finally, I think Richard may have worked as a drysalter and oil merchant in Manchester. He was certainly a wealthy man!
