Went to New Zealand 7 April 1864. When did he come back?
He is said to have been killed on the PE race course. Was a steward of the race course. Whil e riding up to the start at a race meeting a woman suddenly opened an umbrella and his hors e bolted and threw him. He fell and broke his neck. His family are said to have refused to e ver go to a race meeting again.
Margaret Harradine's book says "His son Thomas William continued to farm there (Kragga Kamma ) most successfully but was killed in October 1881 at the age of 36 when after starting a rac e at Fairview, a horse canoned into him. " Is this the same accident?
