Alfred died as a result of a toolbox from the back of the truck he was travelling with during working hours fell on top of him during an accident in which the truck rolled over . He died in hospital from internal injuries. An inquest was held into the accident on 19th and 22nd January and 20th February 1929 in Queanbeyan by the coroner F.P.Woodward.
Edith had to bring up the children by herself after the death of her husband.
