A piece of information sent to me by Simon of genesR which could refer to this William Oakden :

'A relative of mine was killed in Waterfall (stabbed in the eye with a dung fork!), in a ''public house'' belonging to a William Oakden. I have this from the National Archives and is taken from the Staffs Assizes for 1759. Oakden was one of the witnesses (not the killer), and is referred to as a victualler.'
