Isabel is the daughter of Sir William Oliphantand sister of Sir John Oliphant and aunt to Laurence, first Lord Oliphant.
Sir William was retoured heir to his father in lands in 1417. He married married Christian, daughter of Sir John Stewart, of Innermeath, Lord of Lorn. She was the widow of James Dundas of that Ilk.
Isabel and James Scrimgeour had:- James; John; Matilda; Elizabeth and Mariota.
