I'm just sending you an e-mail to congratulate you on the excellent website about the history of the Roe family. You and I are relatives: my great grandmother Hannah Bullock's grandmother was Elizabeth Roe (circa 1795) of Snelston. Hannah was from Norbury and Roston and married my great grandfather Vincent Ward of Rocester (the family originated from Kingstone in Staffordshire, but my rather large branch of the family have been in Derby since the 1890s). We have a few famous relatives: Peter Ward the Nottm Forest and England footballer - the whole family are Derby County supporters!!!! Also Thomas Ward the victim of an unsolved murder in 1921. I managed to obtain a subsidiary title from the Earl of Dudley (William Humble David Ward) which is Baron Ward of Kidderminster Biset - I obtained the barony in the same way that Lords of the Manor are transferred by legal indenture! I am just starting to trace the various branches of my family tree and have been warned that it is likely to become compulsive in my early retirement! I live on the top of a hill next to the Kedleston Estate and by one of those strange quirks of fate, have views across Derbyshire into Staffordshire and can see Hazleton Clump which would have been a local landmark for Snelston nr Ashbourne. I live a short drive from the villages associated with the Roes and Wards. Today I visited my maternal grandfather's grave (William Handford) in Mickleover churchyard and he is burried a few graves away from a Roe, who was no doubt one of the Mickleover Roes you mention on your website.
