He married Mary Whywall (daughter of Ralph Whywall of Lees, Cheddleton) sometime in 1640s and known children are: John; Joshua; William; and Mary born 1659 at Kingsley, Staffordshire. His son Joshua became curate of Cheddleton Church. John was buried 8th April, 1659 at St. Werburgh's Church, Kingsley, and Mary was buried 1st July, 1697 at Kingsley also. In her will Mary left a house at Cheddleton to son Joshua's widow.
