Worked as a gamekeeper for Mr Frederick Gretton of Sudbury Hall,Sudbury, Derbyshire, around the time he married Harriet Annie Hallam(born 29 oct 1893 died 1976).
He then served in the Army from dec 1915 to 19 sep 1919.He always said these were the best years of his life.
